The Sandman Signature Sheffield Quays Hotel has undergone significant renovations, marking a new chapter in its history. Located on the picturesque Victoria Quays, this four-star hotel offers modern amenities and a fresh design aimed at providing an enhanced experience for tourists and travelers alike.
With a total of 128 rooms, the hotel now boasts seven different types of accommodations, including family rooms to cater to the diverse needs of travelers. Northland Properties, the Canadian parent company of Sandman Hotel Group, took ownership in June 2022 and began renovations the following November. The project, which will fully complete in summer 2026, is designed to appeal to both leisure and business guests, with upgraded meeting and event spaces.
Sheffield is one of the greenest cities in the UK, with over 4.5 million trees spread across its parks, gardens, and woodlands. The city boasts more than 250 parks, woodlands, and gardens, offering ample opportunities for outdoor relaxation and exploration. Notable green spaces include the Sheffield Botanical Gardens, which is a 19-acre site dating back to 1836. The Victorian-era glasshouse, which is part of the garden, is a Grade II listed building that adds to the charm of the location.
The Peace Gardens, located next to Sheffield Town Hall, are another highlight for visitors. These gardens, with their stunning water features, including the Goodwin Fountain, have received several regional and national awards. The space, re-developed in 1998, continues to be a popular spot for both locals and tourists. Hillsborough Walled Gardens, dating back to 1779, hold special significance as a memorial for the victims of the Hillsborough Disaster.
For visitors interested in culture, Sheffield is home to some of the most renowned theatres in the UK. The Crucible Theatre, which is a Grade II listed building, is the home of the World Snooker Championships. This prestigious event brings a variety of side events to the city and is a major tourist attraction. The Lyceum Theatre, which opened in 1897, is another iconic venue in Sheffield. Known for hosting touring West End productions, operas by Opera North, and locally produced shows, it offers a diverse range of performances.
The city is also home to smaller theatres, including the Montgomery Theatre and several amateur venues, ensuring that there is always something happening on stage for tourists to enjoy.
Whether staying for business, leisure, or a special event, the newly revamped hotel aims to cater to the needs of modern-day tourists and travelers, providing them with comfort, style, and easy access to everything Sheffield has to offer.
