This recognition celebrates Bangkok’s vibrant culture, iconic attractions, and innovative developments that continue to draw travelers from around the globe. National Geographic’s list, known for spotlighting extraordinary destinations, highlights Bangkok as a must-visit city, known for its rich heritage, bustling markets, world-class dining, and dynamic arts scene. The feature further highlighted Bangkok’s role as a gateway to Thailand’s cultural treasures, spotlighting Wat Chaiwatthanaram, a 17th-century Buddhist temple located just outside the city in Ayutthaya. Recognized as one of Thailand’s most significant monuments, this temple has been undergoing extensive restoration efforts following damage from the 2011 floods. Recent preservation projects, including 3D laser scanning and a protective flood wall, aim to safeguard the temple’s legacy and create an educational site dedicated to Thailand’s rich cultural heritage.
